The Gull was designed for the Wakefield Challenge, a free flight competition started in Britain by Lord Wakefield in 1911. The late RC pioneer and Sky Knights member Weldon Smith flew his electric Gull at our 2012 picnic. Rich used the original lines from Cleveland plans as the basis for his own completely redesigned and reengineered version. Note the coaxial power system that eliminates torque. Compare Rich’s plane with those in the photo galleries at http://www.oldwakefields.com. What would those folks think of Rich’s masterpiece?
