The weather cooperated even better than usual for our annual picnic – it was far less windy than previous years. Approximately 24 people enjoyed the food and companionship on a beautiful day. Once again Rich and Laura Granitz did a splendid job setting up, cooking and cleaning up. Burgers, brats and buns were donated by members and most folks brought a dish to pass. No one went home hungry, for sure.
Jon Earley won the only flying contest by dropping his golf ball on the grass only yards from the center of the runway. Many other pilots had the ball escaping their cup nowhere near the runway. Dave Wurzbach had the most unique solution: he cut off the bottom of the cup and installed up upside down, creating a funnel shape. Still, Jon was the winner by a long shot.
